Animal Love During the Holidays (And A Pandemic)
As we begin to start the weirdest holiday season on record, most people feel a little down right now. Along with that, Cities, states, and countries are re-closing for the second time during this pandemic. We’ve been thinking a lot lately about what this pandemic means for everyone and how to find a hopeful prospect.
As Quarantine progressed last spring, animals all over the world were rejoicing. Four-legged friends were happy their owners could give them their full attention; and cats have been happier than normal. Family and friend gatherings moved to video chat and live stream format.
Everyone at HEA hopes that animals are included in the festive holiday plans, even if it’s just getting ready to take pictures, playing in the snow, or staying in your pajamas all day. To spice things up, we recommend buying special outfits for your animals (if they cooperate). We’ve seen an elf, snowmen, and Santa costumes at local retailers including Petsmart, Walmart, and Target.
If your snuggly pets don’t like clothes or costumes, surprise them with a new toy instead! At HEA, we love to spoil our animals with whatever they like. Toys will always bring a smile to your furry family member, whether they are squeaky toys, fuzzy toys, big toys or small toys.
For those of you that don’t currently have a pet, we urge you to consider saving the life of a shelter dog or cat from HEA. Our mission is to provide a loving home to every companion animal that enters our care. “Each and every one” is guaranteed a home for the rest of their life, whether through adoption or the sanctuary. We have dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens with many different loveable personalities. At least one will be perfect for you and your family during this holiday season. Send us photos of your animals, new and old, this month to be featured on our blog! We hope this small act of love will brighten your holiday cheer just a little bit more.

PERSUASIVE BRAND STORY #1:
Lucy’s Happily Ever After Story!
Happily Ever After shelter is devoted to saving cats and dogs from other animals who may end up being euthanized in shelters due to overcrowding, speed of adoption, or other reasons that the animals may hinder adoption. HEA hopes to inspire shelters to share their vision of saving every single animal that comes to the shelter. Currently, shelters can consider themselves “no-kill” if 90% of the animals are not euthanized – HEA ensures the 10% of animals that may be euthanized in a no-kill shelter are accounted for just as much as the 90%, making Happily Ever After truly a no-kill shelter and sanctuary.
Happily Ever After works with cats and dogs to find them loving forever homes, whether it’s with them at their sanctuary or adopted to a family who wants a new furry family member – and HEA has plenty of furry friends to bond with! One such friend is Lucy, a black and white shorthair who is an older cat that just needs a loving family surrounding her. She came into HEA as a terrified, behaviorally challenged 9-year-old cat that wouldn’t even let anyone near her. In any other shelter, she would have been put down because she is older and had severe behavioral problems – but at HEA, she was welcomed with open arms to a shelter that is willing to make her comfortable, loved, and able to work with her to correct her behavior.
Now, Lucy is a snuggly, playful kitty who just wants a family to love! She has really improved since HEA has taken her in – HEA is honored to have the opportunity to work with wonderful animals like Lucy who may just need a little extra help before being able to find a forever family. Lucy’s past experiences will always be with her, but a loving family will provide her with the forever home she deserves to have!
HEA already has a list of potential families for her to be adopted out to, and Lucy is currently being fostered so she can get used to home life. HEA is devoted to animals like Lucy that may not have had a chance at a different shelter – they ensure every animal that comes to their shelter or sanctuary has a fulfilling life because every single animal’s life matters! HEA’s website is www.heanokill.org if you want to donate to the cause or consider adopting a furry friend!
PERSUASIVE BRAND STORY #2:
Bowie’s Happily Ever After Story
Happily Ever After shelter devotes themselves to cats and dogs who need loving homes. Some of these animals have been rejected from shelters, found on the streets, or given up for adoption. Happily Ever After strives to embrace these animals no matter how difficult or ambitious the endeavor might be. An average of 10% of animals in shelters are euthanized due to overcrowding or lack of resources from the shelter to support them – HEA is committed to saving 100% of animal’s lives, no matter what the cost.
HEA is devoted to animals who may otherwise not find loving homes in other shelters. Sometimes, the animals that come into the sanctuary are young and need a lot of work! In one case, a puppy came into the shelter that was rejected from another shelter since they were full. The person that brought him in found him on the side of the road thin and malnourished. This beautiful puppy was taken in promptly by HEA and had the veterinarians quickly helping him out! The shelter named the puppy Bowie - he is a light brown beagle with one blue eye and one brown eye – aptly named Bowie after the late singer David Bowie. Even in his incredibly weak state, Bowie was always had a bright attitude as a puppy, and HEA knew he would be a shining star of a pup. The veterinarians were able to nurse Bowie back to health, and he now is a playful, fun 2-year-old pup full of energy with his new forever family!
HEA is thankful that they can help where other shelters may not be able to. Whether it’s due to lack of resources, space, or people’s help, these shelters may have to reject animals if not rejected, may end up being euthanized. HEA strives to keep these pets from being put down just because they came in at the wrong place at the wrong time somewhere else. In this case, HEA is thankful to the person who had the puppy who knew about the shelter and brought him in for help.
Just like many stories like these, HEA strives to have 100% of their animals live a wonderful life – like every animal deserves. Every single animal’s life matters, including Bowie’s! Head over to www.heanokill.org for more information on adopting a furry friend like Bowie or if you’re considering donating to the cause!
